Magnesium oxide can be divided into: heavy burnt magnesium, light burnt magnesium, industrial magnesia (light magnesia), heavy magnesia, active magnesia, high purity magnesia, fused magnesia, magnesium oxide whiskers, magnesium peroxide, nano-magnesia, magnesium hydroxide. Its chemical formula is MgO, relative molecular weight is 40.30, melting point is 2800 degrees, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic white amorphous powder, insoluble in water, alcohol, acid or ammonium salt solution, solubility in water increases with the increase of carbon dioxide content. Magnesium oxide is afraid of water during storage and transportation, and is easily deteriorated by dampness and water.
Reburnt magnesia: Mainly used for refractory lining of steelmaking furnace, also used for making Calcium-magnesia brick, magnesia-carbon brick, magnesia-alumina brick and insulating filler of electric heater components.
Light burnt magnesium: Chemical industry used as raw materials for the production of magnesium sulfate, magnesium hydroxide and magnesium chloride. The building materials industry is used to make magnesia movable houses, raw materials for magnesium fertilizer production, neutralizers in waste acid water, adsorbents for heavy metal ions, etc.
Industrial magnesium oxide: also known as light magnesium oxide, occupies a very important position in many inorganic salt products. Mainly used in the manufacture of ceramics, enamels, refractories, etc., as fillers in the manufacture of polishers, adhesives and paints, as promoters and catalysts in artificial fibers, rubber (chloroprene rubber, fluororubber), as anti-acid agents and laxatives in medicine, for the treatment of gastric acid excess, stomach and duodenal ulcer disease, and as De-sugar refining in food processing. Magnesium oxide activity mainly depends on two factors: one is the size of magnesium oxide, the smaller the particle size, the larger the surface free energy, the higher the activity; the other is the crystallization of magnesium oxide, the more complete the crystallization, the fewer defects, the more stable and the lower the activity. The higher the calcination temperature is, the better the crystallization of magnesium oxide. The higher the temperature is, the more complete the crystallization is and the lower the activity is.
High purity magnesia: refers to sintered magnesia with a content of more than 99% and a bulk density of more than 3.4 g% cm 3. High purity magnesia has good flexural strength at high temperature, slag resistance and corrosion resistance. It can improve the service life of the lining of steelmaking furnace, so it is widely used as refractory of the lining of steelmaking furnace.
Fused Magnesium Oxide: Fused Magnesium Oxide is one of the main products for producing magnesium compounds in China.
